Assessment: Focus on Alignment |
| This three day workshop
featuring Rick Stiggin’s Assessment for Learning is designed to
improve teachers' understanding and use of formative and short cycle
assessments. Research demonstrates that the effective use of
formative assessments significantly improves student achievement.
Teachers will learn the keys to successful assessment practice and
the strategies necessary for implementing a successful assessment
program. Two (2) hours college credit from Ohio University will be
available. |

Classroom Walk-Through Process for Administrators |
| This half-day workshop
provides an orientation to the Classroom Walk-Through Process for
school administrators. Participants will learn the steps in the
walk-through process and how to use walk-throughs for improved
student achievement. Conceptual understanding of evaluation versus
walk-throughs to improve student achievement will be discussed. |

Meeting Students Needs:
Differentiation in the Classroom |
| This two day workshop
introduces teachers to strategies for successful differentiation of
classroom instruction. With No Child Left Behind's emphasis on high
achievement for all learners, teachers need strategies to meet the
needs of a variety of learning styles. Teachers will learn about
different types of differentiation and strategies to manage
differentiation in the classroom. An implementation plan for
teachers to try high and low level classroom activities will be
provided. One (1) hour of college credit from Ohio University will
be available. |

Effective Practices for Teaching the
Academic Content Standards |
| The content area
workshops will focus on a deeper understanding of Ohio's Academic
Content Standards and how to develop instructional activities and
assessments that are aligned to the standards using Bloom’s
Taxonomy. Best Practice instructional strategies in the content
areas will be explored. The workshops will also examine state
assessments and scoring in the content area. Two (2) hours of
college credit from Ohio University will be available. |
