Artist-in-Residence
General Information

We strive to bring outstanding artists to our community each year as Artists-In- Residence. This year Wheelersburg High School advanced art students and their teacher, Mrs. Kelly Emmons, worked with artist, Klaire Smith, to create mixed media banners to be displayed at the Portsmouth Public Library in and exhibit titled "Love and Light Panes" from January 10th through March 20, 2022.

The banners were inspired by the colors and designs in the Portsmouth Public Library's domed, stained glass ceiling and intended to reflect the community's love of the library. The banners were made of colored tissue paper adhered to canvas. There are a total of 28 pieces displayed throughout the main floor of the library. The project was coordinated by Sharee Price, South Central Ohio ESC Gifted Services Coordinator.

Congratulations to Wheelersburg High School advanced art students and their teacher, Mrs. Emmons, for the successful work they have completed! Special thanks to our sponsors: The Portsmouth Area Arts Council, Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home, Rotary Club of Portsmouth, Scioto Foundation, Shawnee Animal Clinic, SOMC, William & Barbara Burke, Marc Cottle, Miles & Rachel Deacon, and Dr. Robert & Mrs. Chris Knox!
