"Resident Educator Mentor Academy"

New mentors to the Resident Educator Program are required to successfully complete a face-to-face two-day mentor academy to receive mentor certification. Presenters will be Gay Lynn Shipley, SSU Professor of Teacher Education, and Tammy Hambrick, SCOESC Curriculum Director and RE Program Coordinator.

  • Resident Educator Mentor Academy Day 1 (Aug 15, 2016):
The first day focuses on Mentors as Learners: the knowledge and skills mentors must know to be able to effectively mentor Resident Educators. Resident Educator Mentor Academy Day 1 replaces the former IM training.

  • Resident Educator Mentor Academy Day 2 (Aug. 16, 2016):
The focus for this day is Mentors as Decision Makers. Mentors apply the knowledge and skills learned in Day 1 to design, practice, and implement tailored mentoring support to accelerate Resident Educator growth.  Resident Educator Mentor Academy Day 2 replaces the former RE-1 training.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. until 8:30 a.m., and the sessions are scheduled 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided.
