The week of May 2-6, 2016, is National Teacher Appreciation Week, and the South Central Ohio Educational Service Center is taking a moment to celebrate some of the hard-working teachers in our local schools.

Teacher Appreciation Week was created in 1984 by the National Parent Teacher Association (PTA) to coincide with National Teacher Day, which falls this year on Tuesday, May 3, 2016. National Teacher Day has been a federally observed day since being adopted by congress in 1980.

Throughout the entire week of May 2-6, local teachers will be featured on the ESC’s Facebook page, at www.facebook.com/southcentralohioESC. You can also make a thank you card or an appreciation certificate at http://www.pta.org/, to print or e-mail to your favorite teacher; and show the world how special they are with hashtag #ThankATeacher on social media.
