Riehl earns “Outstanding Treasurer” award

The Ohio School Board Association Southeast Region awarded its Outstanding Treasurer Award to South Central Ohio Educational Service Center Treasurer Andy Riehl.
According to a letter written by Paul Mock, OSBA regional manager, the recognition program started in 1993 as an annual way to help the 84 districts within the Southeast Region recognize outstanding individuals and programs. There are nine categories recognized, and the top recipient of each award will be honored at the annual Southeast Region Fall Conference.
“The Southeast Region is firmly committed to recognizing the tremendous accomplishments that take place in your districts. I hope you feel, as I do, that even though it is impossible to award every nomination with a plaque, the many nominations received still represent truly outstanding individuals and programs,” Mock wrote.
The South Central Ohio ESC Governing Board presented Riehl with the award during its Oct. 12 meeting. The award came as a complete surprise to Riehl. Until that time, he said, he had no idea he had even been nominated.
“It’s awesome,” he said. “I look at it as a joint award, because I’ve got a lot of good people that work for me. A lot of people have to do things right in order for me to be recognized individually. It’s a humbling experience to have your colleague want to nominate you for something like this.”
Riehl began his treasurer career at Northwest Schools in 1991, and joined the South Central Ohio ESC in 2002. He has received treasurers’ awards in the past, but this is the first time he has received the OSBA Southeast Region’s award.
