Substitute Nurses

New Substitute Nurses

NEW substitute nurses must complete the following requirements:

1. Online Application: Complete the ESC on-line sub application which is here:

2. OH/ID Account: Applicants must have an OH/ID Account and an Ohio State Board of Education profile. Information on how to set up an OH/ID Account and an Educator profile can be found here:

3. Background Checks: Have both a State of Ohio BCI and a Federal FBI background check. All background checks MUST go electronically to The Ohio State Board of Education. The SCOESC completes background checks at the 522 Glenwood Avenue office Monday through Friday from 8 until 4. If subs choose to have background checks elsewhere then they MUST obtain a copy of the results to provide to the ESC and ensure that the results go to the Ohio State Board of Education electronically.

4. Official Transcripts: Provide the ESC with official transcripts from an accredited college/university reflecting a bachelor’s degree. Please note: these documents must also be uploaded into an OH/ID Account and Educator Profile.

5. Pupil Services Registration: Apply for a Pupil Services Registration (Registered Nurse) through The Ohio State Board of Education using our ESC IRN # 125658. Information on the Pupil Services Registration can be found here:

Returning Substitute Nurses

RETURNING substitute nurses must complete the following requirements:

1. Online Application: Complete the ESC on-line sub application which is here:

2. Registration Renewal: RENEW an expired Pupil Services Registration (Registered Nurse) through The Ohio State Board of Education using our ESC IRN # 125658. Applicants must have an OH/ID Account and an Ohio State Board of Education profile. You can login to your OH/ID Account here:

PLEASE NOTE: Returning substitutes who skip a year subbing must complete ALL of the steps for NEW subs.
