    Regional Direct Services Audiology & Hearing Services Occupational Therapy Services Physical Therapy Services Speech/Language Therapy Services Vision Services Physical Therapy Services (PT) Physical Therapists (PT) and Physical Therapy Assistants (PTA) contribute to the educational team by enhancing students’ abilities to profit from their educational experiences and to access the general education curriculum. The purpose of physical therapy is to help students gain functional school mobility and assess the need for gross motor equipment and accommodations that may be required for the student to access the school environment. Physical therapists evaluate and design therapeutic educational interventions in the areas of motor development, movement and mobility skills, balance, coordination and self-care. Direct and/or consultative intervention by the physical therapists and physical therapy assistants may be considered for student support.

    Preschool Special Education Peer Model Enrollment Resources Sarah Rice Executive Director of Early Childhood 740-354-0237 Cassie Carver Preschool Coordinator 740-354-7761 Preschool Special Education The South Central Ohio Educational Service Center (SCOESC) preschool intervention program provides comprehensive preschool services for 3-5 year olds. Services and eligibility for preschool children with special needs are determined through the multifactored evaluation process. Children that are referred must be screened, and/or evaluated and must qualify for those services. The evaluation process is initiated through the school district of residence. Typically developing students serve as role models to our students with special needs. All students experience developmentally appropriate activities and we strive to have all students participate in the general curriculum and ready to achieve success in kindergarten. Typically developing students are accepted into our center-based classrooms by going through an application process. These services range from intervention center-based classrooms that address the individual needs of each child to services delivered to children with disabilities in the child’s natural environment. These services are provided by a staff of certified early childhood intervention specialists, licensed speech/language pathologists, and physical and occupational therapists. Help Me Grow is a program that provides health and developmental services so children start school healthy and ready to learn. In Scioto County, Help Me Grow is part of the South Central Ohio Educational Service Center. The Help Me Grow Program: 1. Is free and voluntary 2. Provides screenings for health, hearing, vision and development 3. Provides opportunities to meet and talk with other parents who have young children 4. Connects enrolled children at age three with appropriate services This is a program for families that live in Scioto County and we welcome all parents and children who meet the eligibility requirements. Mission Statement Scioto County Family and Children First Council is a collaborative of 22 public and private agencies and organizations serving families and children in Scioto County. The mission of SCFCFC is to be a community partner with all children and families of Scioto County. Children are valued for who they are and who they will become.     Preschool Special Education Service Delivery Options Peer Model Enrollment Resources Service Delivery Options Center-Based Classrooms – Our classrooms are integrated to include up to eight students that have been identified with special needs and 4-6 typically developing students. Seven preschool classrooms are located in various districts throughout Scioto County and one classroom is located in Manchester. Some classrooms collaborate with other early childhood programs such as Head Start and public preschool programs in the local school districts. Centers are staffed with a certified teacher in Special Education and Early Childhood, as well as a teacher’s assistant. Services and eligibility for preschool children with special needs are determined through the multifactored evaluation process. Children that are referred must be screened, and/or evaluated and must qualify for those services. Typically developing students serve as role models to our students with special needs. All students experience developmentally appropriate activities and we strive to have all students participate in the general curriculum and ready to achieve success in kindergarten. Itinerant Option - Itinerant teachers are available to provide services for eligible children in the setting where the child is located. This may be in a Head Start Center, licensed private or public preschool, or in the home. Itinerant teachers are also certified in Early Childhood and Special Education. Related Services - Related services are provided as identified for children who are eligible. Services may include speech/language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and consultation by vision and hearing specialists.

GED Services Ohio Adult Diploma IET Program ESOL Classes Our General Educational Development (GED) program at Scioto County Aspire offers free preparation services for adult learners who want to earn their GED credential. If you're an Ohio resident aged 18 or older who did not graduate high school, this program is designed for you! What is the GED? The GED is a set of four tests that assess your knowledge in the following subjects: Reading and Language Arts Mathematics Science Social Studies To pass each test, you need a minimum score of 145. Test Costs Each GED test costs $36, totaling $144 for all four tests. If you participate in our GED preparation program, you can receive a voucher that reduces the test cost to just $16 per test, making the total $64. Additional Services We also offer other helpful programs to support your educational journey, including: Distance Learning: Flexible learning options that fit your schedule. Digital Literacy: Courses to boost your computer skills. College Readiness Courses: Training to help prepare you for post-secondary education. Current Offerings Scioto County Aspire currently offers Integrated Education and Training Programs for: Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA) Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Ohio Adult Diploma WorkKeys Test The Ohio Adult Diploma program offers job training to earn an industry-recognized credential aligned to one of Ohio's in-demand jobs, and an alternative pathway for adult learners, 18 years and older, to earn their high school equivalency. Adult learners who participate in the Adult Diploma Program must pass the ACT WorkKeys test before the start of their job training. A cumulative score of 14 must be earned in the three test components: Workplace Documents, Graphic Literacy, and Applied Math. (Note: A minimum score of 4 must be received on each test. Minimum score requirements for job training vary. ACT WorkKeys Test Cost The ACT WorkKeys Test is FREE for those participating in the Adult Diploma Program.     School Psychology Services Low Incidence Hearing Impaired Cooperative Behavior Intervention School Psychology Services School psychologists have specialized training in both psychology and education. They use their training to team with educators, parents, and other mental health professionals to ensure that children learn in a safe, healthy and supportive environment. School psychologists are also well versed in understanding school systems, in effective teaching and in successful learning. Services are tailored to the particular needs of each child and each situation. Many different approaches are used, but most psychologists provide these core services: consultation, assessment, intervention, prevention, education, research and planning, and mental health care. Nine school psychologists are employed by the South Central Ohio Educational Service Center. These individuals are assigned to various school districts served by the SCOESC.
