  • Services | SCOESC

Services Empowering students and families through tailored educational services and support at SCOESC Explore Our Services Educational Service Centers were established in 1914 as county school districts and have been making a difference in Ohio’s schools for over 100 years. In 1995, H.B. 117 changed the role of the county school district by redefining their responsibilities and renaming them Educational Service Centers—a statutory name change intended to reflect the evolving nature of ESC programs and services. The law also encouraged county offices to merge into regional agencies. ESCs must now implement state or federally funded initiatives assigned to the service centers by the General Assembly or the Ohio Department of Education. Since that time, the South Central Ohio ESC has taken to heart the mission of providing high-quality services to our participating districts. We strive to be the conduit and delivery system for Ohio’s statewide school improvement and education reform efforts, as well as continuing to support local districts with county-wide services that they count on from their local ESC. As a result, our services are unique and varied. We provide assistance with needs such as background checks, attendance issues, home schooling, and truancy, as well as early childhood, special education, and alternative school programs.

Leading can be daunting, but rest assured, you don’t have to navigate this journey alone. We are here to support and uplift you, guiding you toward realizing your highest potential as a leader. Testimonials “The training was fantastic. One of the most powerful takeaways for me was the message that a leader’s focus is on mobilizing people and leveraging resources to achieve their goals. Leaders who want to succeed maximize every asset and resource they have for the benefit of their organization." -Jodi Armstrong, Superintendent, Green Local Schools “The curriculum team utilized many of the leadership traits while introducing the group to the laws. The session left most of the group wanting more, not only for themselves but for their teams in the prospective districts. It was a very well-planned and professionally delivered training that any professional could use." -Sandy Mers, Superintendent, SCOESC "Creating positive change is the best way to test whether a person can lead well…and everyone deserves to be led well." – John C. Maxwell See More The SCOESC Curriculum and Gifted Departments offer John Maxwell training based on the book Sometimes You Win, Sometimes You Learn. The half-day, interactive training teaches students how to successfully navigate life's challenges and inevitable failures, using these experiences as positive opportunities for change and growth.
