Service Delivery Options

We provide a variety of delivery methods to accommodate student needs, including:

In-class support, where specialists work directly with students in the classroom.

Pull-out services, where students receive targeted interventions outside of the classroom setting.

Cooperative classrooms that allow inclusive learning environments.

Individualized instruction tailored to meet unique student needs.

Service Delivery Options

Center-Based Classrooms

We offer integrated classrooms with up to eight students with special needs and 4-6 typically developing peers across Scioto County. Led by certified teachers, these classrooms focus on preparing all children for kindergarten. Typically developing students can apply for a role model position for a monthly tuition.

For more details, contact Jodie Wheeler at 740-354-0223.

Itinerant Option

Itinerant teachers provide services in various settings, including Head Start, private/public preschools, or homes. They specialize in both Early Childhood and Special Education.

Related Services

We provide tailored related services such as speech/language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and consultations by vision and hearing specialists to support each child’s needs.

Low Incidence Programs

Our Low Incidence classrooms are tailored to support students aged 5-21 with moderate to intensive disabilities within the public school setting.

Each classroom is staffed by a team of qualified professionals, including Intervention Specialists, Related Service Providers, and Para-Professionals.

These programs provide a safe and structured environment, ensuring access to academic standards through specially designed instruction. We also focus on inclusion opportunities and community-based instruction to help students develop social, independent living, and employability skills.

ED Classrooms

Our ED Classrooms are specifically designed to support students aged 5-21 who face significant emotional and behavioral challenges that affect their learning in public school settings.

These classrooms focus on helping students access the general education environment by combining educational and behavioral strategies to meet their social, emotional, and academic needs.

In our ED Classrooms, students benefit from small group instruction and a highly structured learning environment tailored to their unique requirements.

At SCOESC, we are committed to providing consistent communication and excellence, ensuring that our students and their families receive an outstanding educational experience.

Peer Model Enrollment

Our Peer Model Enrollment program offers integrated center-based classrooms that accommodate up to 8 students with special needs and a total of 16 students. Peer models are typically developing students who serve as positive role models and are required to pay a monthly tuition fee.

Classes are held Monday through Thursday from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Parents are responsible for transporting their children to and from the center.
Each center is staffed by a certified teacher experienced in Special Education and Early Childhood, along with a teacher’s assistant. Some centers also collaborate with other early childhood programs, such as Head Start.
